My great grandfather was a Freemason and so are all my Gran’s brothers. My father has also had many friends that were Freemasons but he never got involved himself, I’m not sure why. My parents have showed their encouragement to me to become involved but sadly my wife has not yet warmed up to the idea. My wife was brought up in a very conservative, very very Afrikaans home and although I am keen to become involved my wife is not totally convinced that a “secret society” is the best thing for me, I have tried to explain to her that Freemasonry is not a “secret society” it’s just a “club” with secrets. I enjoy going on the websites and reading the news but I still feel a great want, to be involved.
